Open Records Requests

In compliance with the Open Records Act of the Kentucky Revised Statutes, the Campbell County Attorney has implemented the following policies and procedures.
Any resident of the Commonwealth, as defined in KRS 61.870(10), may submit a request to the Campbell County Attorney’s office to inspect public records.
All public records shall be open for inspection by any resident of the Commonwealth, except as otherwise provided by KRS 61.870 to 61.884, and suitable facilities shall be made available by each public agency to exercise this right.
If the request places an unreasonable burden in producing public records or if the Campbell County Attorney has reason to believe that repeated requests are intended to disrupt other essential functions of the public agency, the Campbell County Attorney may refuse to permit inspection of the public records or mail copies thereof.

To Submit an Open Records Request:
Requests may utilize the standardized form, FORM OAG-01, supplied by the Kentucky Attorney General. The form may be found here: Request to Inspect Public Records Form.
Requests must: be filled out in writing; be signed by the requesting party; and include the following information, in accordance with KRS 61.876:
The name of the requesting party;
The mailing or e-mail address of the requesting party;
Whether the request is for a commercial purpose;
A description of the documents requested;
A statement regarding residency;
If the request is for a commercial purpose, the Campbell County Attorney may require a certified statement from the requestor stating the purpose for which the requested records shall be used.
Requests may be made either to inspect the public records during normal business hours or receive electronic copies of the public records, subject to file size limitations. Paper Copies of public records may be requested at the cost of $0.10 per page.
Requests must be sent to the Records Custodian at the contact information listed above via hand delivery, mail, facsimile, or email.
Records will be available for review within the required five (5) business day response period, as required by KRS 61.872(5). If additional time is required to recover documents, a detailed response of the cause of the delay and a different timeframe will be specified in response to the request.
